EDUCATION

The Education Commission plans, implements and evaluates all Christian Education programs.

The Commission works with the Rector and the Director of Christian Education to provide Christian Education for all parishioners.  They also help to coordinate the church calendar, working with other commissions to incorporate Christian Education into various events such as short educational programs during Soup Suppers each Wednesday in Lent and an annual St. Nicholas Day party.

The Christian Education commission and staff may be emailed directly via ChristianEd@stcathtt.org

Learning together

Adult Education:

St. Catherine’s believes that education is a lifelong pursuit and supports several opportunities for adults to continue to grow in the knowledge and love of our Lord.   On Sundays from 9 to 9:50 am, a clergy-led forum is held that discuss the lectionary reading for that Sunday; a clergy-led forum held in St. Stephen’s room and a lay-led forum held in St.Christopher’s room.   On Wednesdays after the 10 am Healing Service, a clergy-led Bible study takes an in depth look at one of the books of the Bible.  The clergy also lead the study of a variety of special topics on Tuesday or Thursday evenings as announced.

Never too old to learn!

Youth Group (ages 13 and up):

Teens from St. Catherine’s and their friends meet regularly for fun outings.  They also have the opportunity to work on various service projects.

Children's Chapel:

Children's Chapel is an age-appropriate worship service for young children ages 18 months to 8 years, is held in the St. George's room from 10 to 10:30 AM on Sunday mornings.  Children participate in age-appropriate worship as leaders teach the children simple prayers and songs with motions.  There is a Bible story with pictures and a short discussion of the meaning of the story. The children sing a song based on the Apostle’s Creed.  The older children act as role models for the younger ones. Teaching them appropriate worship behavior and helping to lead the songs.  After chapel the youngest children return to the Nursery and the older ones join their parents in the main service during the Passing of the Peace.  On the 2nd Sunday of each month during the first 15 minutes, the children are learning about the Holy Eucharist.
