EVANGELISM
The Evangelism Commission is intended to bring new members to St. Catherine's.
The commission develops and implements ministries to attract new people to St. Catherine's, welcomes newcomers into the parish family, and encourages new members to become actively involved in parish life.
The Commission sends news releases to local media on
events at St. Catherine's that are of public interest, and looks for ways to
make St. Catherine's visible in the community.
Parishioners designated as greeters are scheduled for
all services to make sure that visitors and newcomers feel welcome and
comfortable. Greeters distribute
newcomer packets with information about the Episcopal Church and our parish
life, and may give St. Catherine's mugs as welcome gifts.
Pew cards explaining the Episcopal service are available for visitors
and newcomers.
The Evangelism Commission sponsors an annual Homecoming
Dinner to give the parish an opportunity to celebrate another year together.
This event invites parishioners from all three services to join
together in welcoming new members and reconnecting with one another.
It provides a special occasion for newcomers to be introduced to
staff and vestry members, and to meet members of commissions and committees
who are available to explain their respective ministries.
The Evangelism Commission meets at the church at 6:30
on the first Wednesday of each month.
